3 Forms of Motivation

Did you know there are 3 forms of motivation?

I break it down here!

  • Desperation
  • Justification/rationalization
  • Inspiration

Desperation is that emergency kind of like, wow… I got to do it.

Which by the way my dad taught me 50 years ago, there are very few emergencies in life. And you’ll probably be a lot happier if you don’t treat life like it’s an emergency.

The second one is justification/rationalization.

You know, I used to believe that we had to find all of these reasons why we’re doing what we’re doing.

Get really suspicious of yourself if you have all kinds of reasons why.

Finally, the last one is inspiration.

You like juice drawn from within almost like, I don’t know why I’m doing it… I just know I’m supposed to do it.

Which form do you relate to most?

If you want to dig deeper with this topic … reach out! I gotch you!

Here’s a great exercise for Getting Moving/Motivation:

Let’s first think about something you have been wanting to do for a long time, but you haven’t been able to get yourself to do it.

What would you do if you were going to start small?

  • What’s the smallest step that you could take/that you could imagine doing?

If starting small appeals to you, do that.

What would you do if you were going to start BIG?

  • What’s the BIGGEST step that you could take/that you could imagine doing?
